The film "In My Days," created thanks to the hard work, determination, and sensitivity of Iga Lis (director) and Julia Grzeszczak (producer), has been selected for Palm Springs ShortFest—one of the largest and most prestigious short film festivals in the United States. Yes, it's an Oscar-nominated film!
This is a huge honor for the filmmakers. Their film will reach a new, international audience on the other side of the ocean. The girls are thrilled. And it's no wonder – it's a truly big deal. The screening will take place in June in California, and details are available here. here.
What is the movie about?
„"In phone conversations with their granddaughters, grandmothers reveal stories of love, loss, and broken hearts. Words that had previously remained unspoken finally find their way—sometimes for the first time. Their stories are not only a record of personal experiences but also an echo of the women's shared experiences over the years. The film prompts reflection on what we truly pass on from generation to generation—not just pain, but also strength, tenderness, and life's wisdom.".
This isn't a film you "watch." It's a film you absorb and think about for a long time afterward.
Where has he been?
This isn't "In My Time"'s first festival journey. The film had its world premiere at the London Short Film Festival, which qualifies for BAFTA awards. It also screened at the Thessaloniki International Documentary Festival (also an Oscar-qualifier). In May, it was featured in the short film competition at Millennium Docs Against Gravity.
And now – Palm Springs. For the creators, it's a vast space for their work to resonate further. And for us – it's a source of joy and pride. The girls are excited. We are too. And we're rooting for them wholeheartedly, with the same, or even greater, energy as at the beginning of their journey.
What captivated us?
At the Uskrzydlamy Foundation, we support individuals with passion, ambition, and authenticity. People who have something to say and want to do it their way – just like Iga and Julia. This wouldn't be possible without their work, but also without their determination to see this project through to the end. And that's precisely what we were after – not ready-made successes, but talents who want to work their way, with passion and awareness.
We don't like to say that "without us, something wouldn't have happened," because we know that good things find their way. But if our support has helped speed up the process or eased the burden on the girls, we feel we've done something important. Sometimes, all it takes is a little help at the right moment, and truly beautiful things happen.
Congratulations, Iga and Julia. This isn't the end of the road, just another step. We're keeping our fingers crossed for you! 😊
