The ongoing support for Ukraine continues with the implementation of another project: the construction of a playground at a Ukrainian primary school in the town of Zvyagel. Funders include the Uskrzydlamy Social Development Foundation and Westbridge Foods Ltd (a UK donor to Ukraine). The project was recently finalized. Construction took several months due to the prevailing wartime circumstances. But the most important thing is that it was a success.
It's not without reason that we chose a Ukrainian company producing this type of equipment, to allow local residents to earn money. In this way, we support Ukrainian families who need to survive in these extremely difficult conditions.
The inclusive playground is carefully planned for its attractions. We wanted to create a space for shared socialization for all children, especially those with special needs and disabilities. The main goal is integration, meaning it should bring children together regardless of their ability and help them forget about health barriers.
Before this creative and developmental space was created, a bomb shelter stood nearby, reminding children of the harsh reality of war. Now, despite the bomb shelter, this place has become vibrant and invites everyone to join in the fun – during school breaks, physical education lessons, and after school.
An inclusive playground also allows caregivers and parents to actively engage in childcare. It allows for strengthening and establishing new relationships. This semblance of a normal world is much needed by Ukrainian children, especially now.
